  1. Grind the ice into small crumbs, roll it into a cloth and wrap the resulting compress around your knees. Using chairs for support, gradually lower yourself to your knees and walk as many steps as you can. Given the severe pain, at the beginning of treatment 2 steps will be enough. But over time, you will need to do 15 steps in 1 approach.
  2. While kneeling, you need to lower yourself onto your heels, while holding onto the supports. This exercise causes sharp, unbearable pain, but you need to overcome it and hold in this position for 5 to 20 seconds. To relieve discomfort, say “Ha!” as you exhale. with the thought that you are breathing out the pain.

If you can’t sit on your heels at first, you can use a bolster under your knees. You need to stay in this position; the required maximum is 5 minutes. Every day, reduce the thickness of the roller and increase the time.

  1. You need to sit on the floor and stretch your legs straight. Holding your foot with your hands, you should pull the toe towards you. This exercise helps stretch the ligaments and muscles under and above the knee. This allows you to normalize blood circulation in the periarticular tissues, and, accordingly, normalize the nutrition of the joint itself.

These are three basic gymnastics exercises for rheumatoid arthritis according to Bubnovsky. Having mastered them, you can move on to more intense and complex ones:

  1. Starting position: stand at a support (this could be a door handle), feet slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Perform squats so that your knees are at an angle of 90° and your back remains straight. Try not to strain your lower back muscles. Gradually reach the norm of 20 squats in 1 approach and 100 squats per day. Therefore, exercise without support.
  2. Starting position: lie on your stomach. Use your hands to grab your feet and slowly pull them towards your buttocks. The exercise helps to work the muscles of the anterior thighs.
  3. Starting position: kneel, arms extended in front of you, feet wider than shoulders. As you exhale, smoothly sit on the floor between your feet. It's just a smooth climb up.
  4. Starting position: lie on your back, body straight, legs slightly apart. You need to alternately bend your knees so that your heel, without leaving the floor, rests on your buttock. If the exercise is difficult, you can help yourself with your hands. You need to fixate in this position for 5-7 seconds, and then smoothly return to the starting position.

Such gymnastics must be completed with a contrast shower.

General rules and recommendations

In order for the treatment of arthritis according to Bubnovsky to help and not harm, you should follow simple rules:

  1. Before you start doing exercises for arthrosis, you need to prepare the joints - do a light massage or rubbing. This increases blood circulation and slightly warms up the muscles and ligaments.
  2. Exercises must be done under the supervision of an instructor. He will be able to correct the patient’s movements so that they do not cause harm to the diseased joint; and will also monitor the number of approaches.
  3. The main principle of therapeutic exercises is a gradual increase in time and number of approaches. This will avoid unbearable pain and fatigue from exercise.
  4. The final stage of the workout is stretching exercises. Due to this, painful sensations in the joints are leveled and fatigue is relieved.

Gymnastics against arthritis according to Bubnovsky will bring noticeable results only if it is performed regularly and conscientiously. During exercise, it is important to monitor your breathing - it should remain uniform. If you do all movements smoothly, you will be able to breathe evenly and in rhythm.

What exercises can be done for coxarthrosis?

I started doing Bubnovsky gymnastics - my hip joint began to hurt. The doctor diagnosed coxarthrosis and suggested surgery. What to do?

Psychologically, such a medical report is very difficult, since it directs the patient towards surgery. A woman complains of pain in the hip joint, and the doctor, without conducting a myofascial diagnosis of this joint (that is, diagnosing the functional state of all its muscles and ligaments), diagnosed “coxarthrosis.” But coxarthrosis, that is, deformation of the articular surface of the head of the hip joint and acetabulum, is not shown in the photographs. Therefore, there are no indications for surgery either.

Pain in the hip joint must be combated by restoring the functions of the muscles of the back and legs - that is, through specially selected exercises. It is necessary to exclude squats, but include exercises for the back.

Exercise "Dragon"

This is a pull of the knee to the stomach while lying on your side or standing on all fours. In this case, a rubber shock absorber must be attached to the lower part of the shin, the other end of which must be secured to the upper point of the fixed support.

Exercise "Back"

This is a straight leg pull down on a rubber shock absorber fixed at the top point of a fixed support. Performed in a supine position.

These exercises should be performed 20 repetitions in one series, and you should definitely finish the exercises with a cold shower for your feet.

These exercises are also safe for already affected hip joints, since they are performed lying down, without axial load and with a rubber shock absorber, which allows you to unload the surfaces of the joint, forcing the muscles to work.

In what cases is it better to refuse classes?

Treatment of arthritis with the Bubnovsky method should not be taken as an unconditionally effective option. In some cases, such therapy may not bring results (if the patient practices independently, or if the pathology has reached an irreversible point) or is strictly contraindicated. It is prohibited to perform gymnastics in the following cases:

  • arthritis in the acute phase;
  • purulent inflammatory process of the synovial membrane;
  • arthritis and arthrosis in acute purulent form;
  • ankylosis or ossification of the joint, when it becomes completely immobile.

Performing exercises for arthritis according to Bubnovsky in the presence of such forms of the disease can lead to serious complications with irreversible consequences.
