Intraject, 2.2%, solution for intra-articular administration, 2 ml, 1 pc.

The most dangerous joint lesions are considered to be pathologies that affect cartilage. In this case, severe pain appears, the mobility of the joint worsens, which can become completely immobilized if therapeutic measures are not taken in time. To prevent such consequences, doctors prescribe a complex of medications, among which the drug Intraject is highly effective. It significantly alleviates the patient’s condition, relieves pain and inflammation, and helps restore the functioning of joints.

In what form is Intraject available?

The drug Intraject is available in the form:

  • solution for injection into the joint cavity Intraject hyaluform synovial - colorless, transparent, thick liquid, comes in a 1 ml or 2 ml Luer-lock syringe, the concentration of the active component can be 1% and 1.8%;
  • gel for external use Intraject T-Gel is a yellowish gel, packaged in 5 ml tubes.

According to the instructions for the drug, Intraject is used as part of complex therapy for arthrosis and arthritis, regardless of the stage and form of the disease. The effect of the drug is cumulative. More than half of the patients note a decrease in pain 10 weeks after the final injection into the cavity of the affected joint. The resulting effect of treatment lasts for 3-12 months.

Why should you care about molecular mass?

On what basis do patients choose a synovial fluid prosthesis? “To work, quickly relieve pain and restore mobility to the joint.” All this is correct, but it is worth thinking in the long term. Arthrosis is not completely cured, which means that sooner or later the symptoms will return. It is better if this happens as late as possible. This does not require more injections, but a drug with a higher molecular weight.

“Noltrexin” with a molecular weight of 12.5 million Da in the form of a large single macromolecule is fixed in the physiological synovial fluid, mixes with it and improves viscosity-elastic characteristics. Dense, long molecules are not easily destroyed, so they remain in the joint for a long time, which explains their long-lasting effect.

What happens when a low molecular weight drug, such as Intraject Hyaluform, is injected into a joint? Molecules of synthetic hyaluronic acid are instantly attacked by enzymes and begin to disintegrate. The bonds in them are not stable enough, so after a few weeks the volume of the injected gel is reduced, and the joint fluid again loses its viscosity and elasticity. After a few months the course must be repeated.

What effect does Intraject have?

The drug Intraject has the following therapeutic effect:

  • replenishes the lack of synovial fluid;
  • relieves inflammation and reduces pain;
  • eliminates discomfort in the joint area;
  • improves the mobility of the diseased joint;
  • promotes restoration of deformed articular elements;
  • prevents the degenerative process in joints;
  • activates tissue regeneration.

What is special about Noltrexin?

Noltrexin is the only third-generation polymer viscoprosthesis of synovial fluid on the market. Swiss engineers, experts in the field of high-molecular compounds, worked on its development. They managed to create a product with a very dense cross-linking of molecules and a very long period of action. In fact, Noltrexsin is a hydrogel macromolecule with a very high molecular weight. It does not react with tissues and does not cause an allergic reaction or rejection.

Composition of the drug Intraject

Intraject Hyaluform Synovial is a transparent viscous liquid that is intended to replace or replenish the lack of synovial fluid in the joint, lost as a result of pathologies of the musculoskeletal system. The consistency of the drug resembles a gel that is odorless. The main active ingredient of the solution is hyaluronic acid of a special form, obtained through bacterial fermentation. The composition for injection into the joint cavity does not contain animal proteins, which reduces the risk of developing allergic reactions in people with increased histamine production.

Intraject gel for external use contains:

  • hyauloronic acid – provides lubrication and shock absorption of articular surfaces;
  • glucosamine – stops the processes of tissue degeneration and joint destruction, helps reduce pain and produce synovial fluid;
  • chondroitin - reduces the severity of the inflammatory process and pain, promotes the restoration of damaged joints, improves their performance, helps produce synovial fluid;
  • methylsulfonylmethane – relieves inflammation, promotes the production of your own collagen;
  • arnica extract – acts as an antiseptic, relieves inflammation and pain;
  • comfrey extract – eliminates pain, reduces the severity of the inflammatory process; activates tissue regeneration;
  • ginger extract – relieves inflammation, has an antioxidant effect, eliminates pain.

The gel is a chondroprotector and is included in the complex treatment of arthritis and arthrosis.

Trade name:
Intraject® T-Gel

Release form and packaging:

gel for external use in a tube of 5 g. In a cardboard box there are 4 tubes along with instructions for use.

Description:

opaque yellowish gel with a mint odor.

The gel contains:

Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide belonging to the class of glycosaminoglycans, which is part of all tissues of the body and is the most important structural element of synovial fluid. The viscoelastic properties of hyaluronic acid, which is part of the synovial fluid, provide lubrication and shock absorption of the articular surfaces.

Chondroitin sulfate - participates in the construction of the main substance of cartilage and bone tissue. Improves phosphorus-calcium metabolism in cartilage tissue, inhibits enzymes that disrupt the structure and function of articular cartilage, and inhibits the processes of degeneration of cartilage tissue. Stimulates the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans, normalizes the metabolism of hyaline tissue, promotes the regeneration of cartilage surfaces and the joint capsule. Prevents compression of connective tissue, increases the production of intra-articular fluid, and increases the mobility of affected joints. Slows down bone resorption, reduces calcium loss and accelerates bone tissue repair processes, inhibits the progression of osteoarthritis. It has an analgesic effect, reduces joint pain, pain at rest and when walking, and the severity of inflammation.

Glucosamine sulfate - stimulates the biosynthesis of aminoglycans, helps restore cartilage surfaces and reduce degenerative changes in joints. Normalizes the production of intra-articular fluid, reduces joint pain, improves their mobility.

Methylsulfonylmethane is part of glycosaminoglycans (structural components of cartilage tissue) and is directly involved in the restoration of cartilage tissue. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, and is especially effective in preventing and alleviating inflammatory syndrome in arthritis, myositis, sprains, tendovaginitis, and bursitis. Participates in the formation of connective tissue and collagen biosynthesis.

Arnica extract - exhibits antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet properties, and also has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects on joints. (Cameron M., Chrubasik S., Topical herbal therapies for treating osteoarthritis, Cochrane Database Syst. Rev., 31;5:CD010538 , doi: 10.1002/14651858.CD010538 (May 2013))

Comfrey extract – stimulates the regeneration of body cells, including bone tissue, due to the high content of allantoin and rosmarinic acid. It has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. (Cameron M., Chrubasik S., Topical herbal therapies for treating osteoarthritis, Cochrane Database Syst. Rev., 31;5:CD010538, doi: 10.1002/14651858.CD010538 (May 2013))

Ginger extract – has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. Affects inflammatory processes at the cellular level, reducing joint pain in osteoarthritis. (Altman RD, Marcussen KC, Effects of a ginger extract on knee pain in patients with osteoarthritis, Arthritis Rheum., 2001 Nov; 44(11):2531-8)

How is Intraject used?

Injection of the solution into the joint cavity is prescribed by a doctor if there is no effect from conventional therapy. The solution must be administered by a specialist within the walls of a medical institution and under completely sterile conditions. The doctor must have special training to perform such procedures.

Before the injection, the injection site must be numbed, for example, with lidocaine. The solution for administration should be at room temperature. You can only give 1 injection per week. The duration of courses should not exceed 6 weeks, but when prescribing the dose and duration, the doctor takes into account the individual clinical picture. The drug should be administered strictly into the joint cavity - under no circumstances should it be administered inside the vessels or into the space outside the joint, joint capsules. If necessary, the course of injections is repeated, but you must wait at least 6 months.

Intraject T-Gel is used externally - applied to clean skin, then rubbed in until completely absorbed. This should be done twice a day: morning and evening. Using the gel, you can simultaneously treat several damaged joints.

Are there any contraindications?

The drug in the form of an injection cannot be used for:

  • high sensitivity to active components;
  • bleeding of various origins;
  • autoimmune diseases;
  • infectious processes in articular or periarticular tissues;
  • skin ailments in the area of affected joints;
  • infectious processes in the body.

Gel Intraject is not allowed to be used on wounds or abrasions on the skin, or in case of hypersensitivity to the constituent components. Also, the drug is not recommended for use in children under 18 years of age.

The use of Intraject during pregnancy and breastfeeding is possible only after the recommendations of the attending physician, who determines that the benefits of such treatment outweigh the potential risks.

What are the possible side effects?

Intraject is well tolerated by most patients. But there are still some possible side effects:

  • skin redness;
  • swelling;
  • soreness;
  • burning sensation;
  • the appearance of intra-articular fluid;
  • allergic reaction.

These symptoms are often short-lived and disappear on their own. But if they are observed a week after using the medicine, then you need to consult a doctor. It is very rare to experience septic arthritis, which may not even be related to the use of medication. In this case, the pain syndrome intensifies, body temperature rises, and local inflammation develops.

Features of application

The intraject is designed to eliminate pain and inflammation in the affected joint. But the disease itself cannot be cured with this remedy. Intraject is not able to strengthen bone tissue, improve blood microcirculation or restore cartilage. Only as part of complex therapy can the drug stop further destruction of the joint and promote tissue regeneration. The drug has an effective and prolonged effect, but can lead to a deterioration in the patient's condition at the beginning of treatment.

If Intraject hyaluform synovial is administered only by a specialist in a medical institution, then Intraject T-Gel can be used even at home, following the instructions for use.

Gel and liquid for intra-articular administration act at the local level and are not absorbed into the systemic circulation. This allows the medicine to be used for patients who have problems with the kidneys and liver.

Intraject should not be used together with drugs containing sodium hyaluronate and ammonium salts. Medical and surgical instruments should not be treated with solutions that contain these components.

If the packaging of the gel or solution for intra-articular administration is damaged, then the drug should not be used. Expired product must be disposed of. The drug should be stored in a place protected from sunlight and should not be frozen.

What to choose?

If you trust only Russian manufacturers and are ready to regularly visit an orthopedist for intra-articular injections, the Intraject Hyaluform synovial fluid prosthesis is an excellent choice! Get ready to do 5-10 injections a year, shelling out decent amounts for them.

If comfort is a priority and you would like to extend the period “without medical intervention” as much as possible, choose Noltrexin. After a course of 1-3 injections at weekly intervals, you will forget about the doctor for one and a half to two years. In addition, saving is a pleasant bonus for the family budget!
