How a radiograph is performed depending on the object of study of the lower extremity area

A foot examination is most often required for injuries. In this case, the x-ray is performed in a supine position, with the legs bent at the knees and the soles resting on a flat surface.

Often the reason for visiting a traumatologist is a fracture of the phalanges of the toes. The specialist will decide whether to take x-rays of one, several or all fingers. Usually, if several phalanges are examined, then a picture is taken in two projections - direct and oblique. In the case of X-ray diagnostics of one finger, 2 options for combining projections can be used: straight and oblique; straight and lateral.

If we are talking about damage to the ankle joint, then it is better to take pictures in the lateral projection: the patient is sitting, the foot is on a stand.
