Pain is a serious factor that worsens a person’s quality of life. For example, up to 20% of the world's adult population suffers from back pain. This is usually a short-term episode - up to three days, but 30% of patients subsequently develop chronic pain syndrome.
In the treatment of acute and chronic pain associated with damage to joints, muscles and nerve fibers, preparations of B vitamins are used - such as Milgamma and Neuromultivit. They differ only in one active ingredient and have similar indications for use. We will tell you more about each of these drugs in the article.

Indications for use
Neuromultivit and Milgamma have a similar composition. Both drugs contain B vitamins and are prescribed in the following situations:
- polyneuropathy – damage to peripheral nerves, including due to diabetes mellitus and chronic alcoholism;
- intercostal neuralgia;
- neuritis;
- back and neck pain caused by diseases of the spine (including osteochondrosis).
Milgamma differs in that in addition to vitamins it contains the anesthetic lidocaine. The drug quickly relieves pain, so it is often prescribed in the acute stage of the disease - for example, for back pain due to osteochondrosis. Neuromultivitis is usually used for chronic disease and for moderate pain.
conclusions
Let's summarize:
- Neuromultivit and Milgamma are complex drugs. They contain B vitamins and are used to treat many neurological diseases.
- Both drugs are drugs with unproven effectiveness, but in Russian-language sources they are mentioned as reliable drugs.
- Neuromultivit and Milgamma are available in two forms - injection solution and tablets. Treatment begins with intramuscular administration of the drug. After the main symptoms subside, the patient is transferred to tablets.
- Both drugs are well tolerated, there is no significant difference between them. Not prescribed for pregnant and lactating women, children and people with severe heart disease.
- Neuromultivit and Milgamma are available only with a doctor's prescription. Don’t be confused by the fact that these are vitamins – overdose and misuse are dangerous. Do not try to treat yourself - consult a specialist.
How vitamins relieve pain
It is not by chance that B vitamins are used in neurology. They are neuroprotective and have an affinity for nerve cells. Since both drugs contain these vitamins, they will act the same:
- Vitamin B1 (thiamine) affects carbohydrate metabolism and ATP synthesis. Regulates the functioning of nerve fibers and muscles.
- Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) stimulates key components of metabolism - affects the transformation of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Ensures normal oxygen transport to cells. Enhances the effect of thiamine when used together.
- Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) is an important component of the myelin sheath surrounding nerve fibers. It also stimulates the production of blood cells and regulates nucleotide exchange.
- Lidocaine is also included in the complex drug Milgamma. This is a local anesthetic - it eliminates pain. Neuromultivitis also has an analgesic effect, but it is due to vitamin B12 and is much weaker.
- Milgamma and Neuromultivit compensate for the deficiency of B vitamins and affect the metabolic processes occurring in the nervous tissue. They relieve pain, normalize blood flow, slow down tissue destruction and improve the patient's condition.
Let's compare the composition of the drugs
Milgamma and Neuromultivit belong to the same pharmacological category - B vitamins. These are complex drugs used primarily in neurology. Details about medications are in the table.

Assessing the effectiveness of drugs
The effectiveness of any medications is assessed in clinical studies. It is important that such studies comply with international standards - they are randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled. This means that the sample involves a fairly large number of patients, the groups are determined randomly, and neither the doctor nor the patient knows whether a drug or a placebo (dummy) is being used in a particular group. This is the only way to be sure that the research is objective.
A search through the international database PubMed, the Cochrane Library and other authoritative sources did not bring any results - vitamin preparations are not mentioned in them. By international standards, these drugs can be considered drugs with unproven effectiveness. But they are used in the Russian Federation and other countries - where the criteria for selecting drugs are not so strict. It is not surprising that Russian-language sources write quite a lot about the use of B vitamins in neurology.
Milgamma:
- Effective in the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy in adults. This is evidenced by the results of a clinical study in 2014. It has been proven that the use of the drug Milgamma reduces the severity of pain during the day. The effect of the therapy decreases after its completion (two months of observation), but the general condition of the patients improves.
- According to the results of an open multicenter study, Milgamma proved to be an effective remedy in the treatment of neuropathy of various origins.
- Milgamma works well for dorsopathy - back pain caused by osteochondrosis and other diseases of the spine.
- Milgamma in the acute stage of the disease: the drug relieves pain 20 minutes after use.
Neuromultivitis:
- in complex therapy of diabetic neuropathy. The drug relieves unpleasant symptoms, triggers tissue regeneration and inhibits the progression of the disease.
- for various diseases of the spine, including radicular syndrome.
- as a supportive symptomatic remedy for cancer - relieves pain.
- B vitamins (without specifying specific drugs) in the complex prevention of diabetic foot syndrome in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Characteristics of Neuromultivitis
Manufacturer: G.L.Pharma GmbH (Austria). The product is commercially available in the form of tablets and solution for injection into soft tissues. The drug is multicomponent. Contains substances:
- thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1);
- pyridoxine hydrochloride or vitamin B6;
- cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12).
Both drugs are representatives of the group of neurotropic vitamins.
The first component is contained in a dosage of 100 mg, the second active ingredient - in an amount of 200 mg, cyanocobalamin - 0.2 mg. The concentration indicated is for 1 tablet. The solution contains 100 mg of thiamine and pyridoxine, as well as 1 mg of cyanocobalamin. Properties of the drug:
- regenerating (the product restores nerve tissue);
- metabolic (Neuromultivitis affects metabolic processes in nerve cells);
- analgesic.
When thiamine enters the body, it is transformed into cocarboxylase. This metabolite is involved in many enzymatic processes. If there is a sufficient amount of vitamin B1 in the body, the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins is normalized. Thanks to thiamine, the conductivity of nerve impulses is restored. The result of this is a decrease in pain.
Pyridoxine hydrochloride is necessary to prevent the development of diseases of the nervous system. When it enters the body, this substance undergoes transformation, as a result of which it can take part in the metabolism of amino acids.
Neuromultivitis is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to any component.
Against the background of pyridoxine deficiency, the function of the most important enzymes that are active in nerve tissues is disrupted. Without this vitamin, the biosynthesis of neurotransmitters is impossible. Another active component in Neuromultivit (cyanocobalamin) is involved in the functioning of the hematopoietic system. Thus, its main function is to stimulate the maturation of red blood cells. Without vitamin B12, a number of biochemical processes are disrupted:
- transfer of methyl groups;
- production of nucleic acids and protein;
- metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates, lipid compounds.
In addition, vitamin B12 is involved in the synthesis of DNA and RNA, and helps normalize the functioning of the nervous system. The importance of the metabolic products of this substance is noted. Coenzymes, which are released during the transformation of cyanocobalamin when it enters the body, affect the synthesis and growth of cells. Indications for use of the drug:
- disorders of the nervous system of various nature and genesis: polyneuritis, neuralgia (intercostal, trigeminal nerve), polyneuropathy, including pathological conditions that developed against the background of diabetes mellitus;
- radicular syndrome provoked by the musculoskeletal system;
- sciatica;
- lumbago;
- cervical and glenohumeral syndromes.
The drug is prescribed for pathological conditions that develop against the background of diabetes mellitus.
Neuromultivit is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to any component, in childhood (due to the lack of information about the safety of the drug), during pregnancy and lactation. The drug is well tolerated in most cases, but there is a risk of side effects:
- allergies, manifested by urticaria;
- nausea;
- gagging;
- more intense sweating;
- tachycardia;
- dizziness;
- disturbance of consciousness;
- acne;
- convulsive conditions;
- irritation (redness and pain) at the point of injection of the solution.
More severe symptoms (tachycardia, confusion, convulsions) occur with an overdose. The dosage regimen for this medication varies depending on the form of release:
- tablets: 1 pc. no more than 3 times a day, sometimes the frequency of administration is 1 time per day;
- injections: daily dose - 2 ml (contents of 1 ampoule) 1 time per day, course duration does not exceed 10 days with daily administration of the drug and increases to 3 weeks, when Neuromultivit is used no more than 3 times a week.
After eliminating the symptoms of exacerbation, stop taking injections and switch to tablets.
Adverse reactions
Neuromultivitis and Milgamma lead to similar side symptoms:
- nausea, rarely vomiting;
- increased heart rate;
- increased sweating;
- dizziness;
- allergic reactions.
With intramuscular injections, there may be pain and irritation at the injection site.
In case of accidental intravenous administration or exceeding the recommended dosage, confusion, heart rhythm disturbances, convulsions, and vomiting may occur.
If unwanted symptoms appear, you should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Precautionary measures
Neuromultivit and Milgamma are well tolerated. Side effects are rare and are associated with individual intolerance to the drug. During treatment, the following reactions may also occur:
nausea, sometimes vomiting;
- tachycardia - rapid heartbeat;
- increased sweating;
- dizziness;
- skin itching.
Milgamma sometimes provokes seizures, especially in people predisposed to this.
When administering the drug intramuscularly, there may be swelling, redness, and irritation at the injection site. Such symptoms pass quickly and do not require additional therapy. To prevent these reactions from occurring, the drug must be administered slowly and the dosage strictly observed.
Neuromultivit and Milgamma are not prescribed for the following conditions:
- pregnancy and lactation;
- childhood;
- severe heart pathology;
- individual intolerance (allergic reaction or severe side effects to the previous administration of the drug).
